I know I’ve said it before and I will say it again, I do not like sci-fi movies. And another reason could be that maybe I just don’t understand sci-fi all that well. But even so, I did really enjoy the movie Annihilation. And maybe it’s because I didn’t understand the movie at all, or maybe it’s because I did. Guess we’ll never know.
Annihilation
Annihilation starts off with Lena (Natalie Portman) mourning the disappearance of her husband Kane (Oscar Isaac), who’s been M.I.A. for a year. Suddenly Kane reappears but doesn’t offer Lena much of an explanation of what has happened to him, where he has been nor how he got home. I don’t want to give away too much of the story line so I’m just going to jump ahead a little bit.
After Lena learns where her husband has been she decides to go there herself with a team of four other women hoping to find something that will help her husband. The team consists of Dr. Ventress (Jennifer Jason Leigh), Anya (Gina Rodriguez), Cass (Tuva Novotny) and Josie (Tessa Thompson). I probably can’t do this movie any justice with any sort of review, so just watch the trailer below (or not). P.s., if Netflix keeps up with these good series and films I might have to consider becoming a hermit.
