Not a lot of movies can make me cry, unless we’re talking about a Grey’s Anatomy episode. Because those are just too emotional and I can’t help myself. But this movie got to me. Detroit. And it’s not just because I’m a woman of color myself but, because I’m a human being with a conscious.

Even though this movie is about the Detroit riots in 1967, it seems like some things haven’t changed. And it’s sad, it’s so very sad. Now I won’t make this a post about equality and civil rights because I don’t want to take the focus away from this movie. But it’s important to know about history even when it’s not your own. Pretending like something didn’t happen, doesn’t make it go away. Watch the trailer and after that please watch the movie.
