When I was a little girl I used to fangirl Jennifer Lopez so bad. I remember wishing to be just like her when I grew up. Unfortunately the talent Gods did not grant me with the ability to sing, dance nor act. Also my fear of public speaking isn’t helping. While I may not listen to her music anymore, I do however enjoy all of her movies. So when I saw the trailer for Second Act I got all of my fangirl vibes back.

Second Act is about a woman in her forty’s, Maya Vargas (Jennifer Lopez) hoping to fulfill her career ambitions when a higher position becomes available at her job. However, she is held back by her lack of degrees. Then she gets a chance to work at Franklin & Clarke (a high-level company) due to some unusual measures. I won’t spoil too much of the movie but I do want to say that I found it to be very inspirational.

Even though the movie doesn’t have the best reviews online, it’s not half as bad as people make it out to be. But I just loved the movie because it emphasizes the fact that college or university degrees aren’t everything in this world. There are a ton of people without degrees (including me) that have a bunch of other skills and experience. This movie is for us. We got this.
